Why plan quantities before you buy

Most material mistakes happen before the first shovel goes in the ground. Order too little and you are back at the store halfway through the job, or paying a second delivery fee for half a load. Order too much and you are left with pallets, bags or a pile of gravel you have to store, move or throw away. Mixing batches bought weeks apart can also leave visible color differences in pavers and mulch.

Planning first gives you one number to check against your budget and one list to hand to your supplier. It also makes the guesswork visible. Waste, settling and compaction are not hidden magic here: they are listed as assumptions you can read, change and print with your list, so you always know why the order is larger than the area you measured.

Is this tool free?

Yes. Every planner is free to use, with no account, no sign-up and no limit on how many projects you plan.

Do you store my measurements?

No. All calculations run in your browser and your measurements are never sent to us. Some planners can remember your last project in your own browser so you can come back to it; you can clear it at any time with the Start over button. Prices you type in are never saved.

Are the results exact?

No. The results are estimates based on your measurements and the assumptions shown on each page. Real quantities change with the product, moisture, compaction and how you install, so check the label and confirm with your supplier before you order.

Can I use Imperial or Metric units?

Yes. Use the Imperial / Metric switch at the top of any page. Values you have already entered are converted for you, and your choice is remembered in this browser when storage is available.
